A tree fell yesterday, no one there to hear the rumble.
Roots already fading forever away, like our youth marching off to war.
I mourned that tree and felt alone, until I reached the bottom of the hill.
A bird anxiously waited for me to round the corner. On your mark, get set...go! We raced to the stop light.
The bird waited in a tree. Green light go and go we did all the way to the next red light.
Again and again until we ran out of trees, we raced along content to be.
Then it dawned on me, the tree that fell yesterday, was missed by that bird as well.
