We Miss the Tree

A tree fell yesterday, no one there to hear the rumble.

Roots already fading forever away, like our youth marching off to war.

I mourned that tree and felt alone, until I reached the bottom of the hill.

A bird anxiously waited for me to round the corner.   On your mark, get set...go!  We raced to the stop light.

The bird waited in a tree.  Green light go and go we did all the way to the next red light.

Again and again until we ran out of trees, we raced along content to be.

Then it dawned on me, the tree that fell yesterday, was missed by that bird as well.

The Sky Our Ceiling

We don't always treat each other so well in this world.  It is odd because we share the same ceiling.  The earth is a home to us all.  Case in point, I was driving and had stopped.  The light turned green and I said, "Oh, it's green."  A truck was coming over the crest of the hill behind me and honked at me.  I was thinking that that was nice of him.  I was in the intersection and as he was turning right  I waved a Thank you to him while his passenger flipped me off with a scowl on his face.  If I had mental problems  I would have gone after them or have thought that I was the reason the man was scowling.  He didn't know me, nor I him, and he was a goodly distance behind me.  I venture to say he was in a crappy mood before he rode over the hill and was just looking for people to flip off.  Why should I have to make excuses for others poor behavior?   Because that man shares the same roof as do I and with all of you too.

Taking it a bit further, what if the weapons of mass destruction were really weapons we have designed to defend ourselves against the space inhabitants.  The middle east could have been the protectors and would die protecting the weapons of mass destruction to keep them out of the hands of the evil invaders.  The rest of the world is supposed to know this but suddenly, the enemy has made it through our atmosphere and taken up residence amongst us.  What if..... Nah.   Nevermind.
